A New Life In France…or not!
If you have been following me for a while you may know that in 2020 we sold up and moved to France with plans of renovating an old boarding house and chalet. We got quite far with the chalet renovation but 2 years in we ran out of steam and got very homesick and decided to return to the UK (head over to my blog if you’d like to know more about our little French adventure).. We sold the chalet and We are now happily established back in the UK. however we still have the main house in France.
It’s taken a while to work out but our vision for the French house is clear now. I would like it to be a showcase for our art. Each room immersed in paintings, wallpapers, hand painted furniture, screens and decorative features. The top floor I would ideally like to make completely open plan with sky lights as a big art studio. Think something along the lines of Charleston House or William Morris’ Red House. The end goal is to open it up for art residencies, retreats, an inspiring art filled space for artists, writers and creatives to meet and share ideas.
This is of course a huge undertaking and needs careful planning and advice. WE may have to set it up as a trust or charity and raise funds that way. I will be seeking legal advise to do this properly. Please get in touch if you have any ideas or interest in this project.
